Open Preferences → Assistance → Companion and generate a pairing code or QR code.
From your media
to the project, on the go.
The Companion connects an Android device to your Dailies Delivery server so you can prepare and upload photos, videos, and audio to an authorized project.
The workflow at a glance
A phone’s IP address may change. The server recognizes the device through its pairing, not its network address.
1 · Pair the device
Scan the QR code or choose code pairing. The QR code supplies the server address and available trust information.
After approval, the device appears under the associated profile. Temporary codes expire; an administrator can revoke a pairing.
The entered address is remembered. Use “Open server” to visit the site in your browser.
A QR code does not automatically make an invalid certificate trustworthy: it also carries the fingerprint used to recognize the server’s self-signed certificate during pairing.
2 · Prepare and upload media
- Choose a project your profile can access, or create a project from the Companion.
- Select a folder on the device. For a camera or USB drive mounted by Android, browse to it in the folder picker; the app can search for a DCIM folder.
- Review the detected items and select the photos, videos, or audio files to upload.
- Start the transfer and follow progress, percentage, speed, and each media item’s status.
Original filenames are preserved. The selected folder structure is reproduced in the project, in a device-named folder when that destination is configured.
3 · Track transfers
⏳ In progress
Transfers continue in the background through Android’s persistent work service. A notification and the progress screen show their status.
✓ Transferred
Review completed uploads in the history. Imported media can be deleted from the app when server permissions allow it.
The app can lock again when sent to the background while keeping transfers active. Unlock with biometrics or your device screen lock if protection is enabled.
4 · Customize the Companion
- In Preferences, turn the animated globe background on or off.
- Choose whether the server’s login background image appears in the app.
- Manage app lock, device pairing, and disconnection.
- Open the server in a browser from the “Active connection” area.
Good to know
- The Companion is Dailies Delivery’s Android app. The server must be running and reachable from the device.
- Available projects and destinations depend on the account and permissions configured on the server.
- A USB camera must be recognized and mounted by Android. If its contents are missing, browse to its storage in the folder picker and run the scan again.
- Keep the app and server up to date if pairing or transfers fail.
