Your media, your team, one shared workspace.
Dailies Delivery hosts projects and media. The Federation Master helps servers discover and connect to one another. This guide starts both services together.
Before you start
- Docker Engine and Docker Compose v2.
- Port
8000available locally. By default, the Docker app can only be reached from the server itself. - The Master is bound to localhost on port
8443by default.
Install in three steps
- Place
install/docker/federation-stackon the server. - Run the installer from that directory:
cd install/docker/federation-stack ./install.sh
- On the server, open
http://127.0.0.1:8000. For network access, place an HTTPS reverse proxy in front of the local port 8000.
β¨ The installer generates a random admin token and stores it in the private .env file.
Connect another server
The Master needs a reachable DNS name and HTTPS for remote federation.
- Configure DNS and an HTTPS certificate (TLS reverse proxy or certificates mounted directly).
- Create an enrollment code in the Master's admin panel.
- On the other Dailies Delivery instance, open Preferences β Federation and enter the HTTPS URL and code.
π Keep the admin token private. Never expose the Master over plain HTTP on the Internet.
π΄ Federated Library
The published folder must be available inside the Dailies Delivery application container.
Add a folder mount to the application service in the Compose file, then select its in-container path in Preferences β Federation. To enforce read-only access at the filesystem level, mount it read-only, for example ./resources:/resources:ro. Sharing is disabled by default and can include every federated server or only selected servers.
Your data stays safe
Named Docker volumes preserve data when containers are recreated:
dailies_data: application database and settings.dailies_media: media files.dailies_keys: encryption key (keep it separately from backups).federation_data: Master data and identity.
The down command stops services without removing these volumes.
Check status and update
The images use the latest tag to pull the most recent publication.
docker compose --env-file .env -f compose.yml ps docker compose --env-file .env -f compose.yml logs -f docker compose --env-file .env -f compose.yml pull docker compose --env-file .env -f compose.yml up -d
To control update timing, replace latest in .env with a published version tag. The Master starts with a local self-signed TLS certificate. Its admin panel is at https://127.0.0.1:8443/admin. Replace the certificate with a trusted one before exposing the Master directly; otherwise, keep it behind an HTTPS reverse proxy.
