🎬 YOUR FIRST STEPS
Welcome to
Dailies Delivery
A home for your production projects and media, with a shared point of reference for your team.
Start with five steps ↓The idea
Each project represents a shoot, film, or production. Browse folders and media inside it, then open an item in the viewer. Files stay in locations managed by your server; Dailies Delivery helps organize and review them.
Start a project or choose an existing folder.
Find it in your project list.
Use folders, thumbnails, and the player.
Your first five steps
- Open the server address in your browser and sign in.
- Choose “Import / New project”, then create an empty project or select an existing folder. Existing folders must be accessible from the computer hosting Dailies Delivery.
- Select the project in “Project List”. Click its name to view its contents; archived projects can be restored from the archive control.
- Browse folders and thumbnails, then click an item to preview it. Videos and images open in the viewer; PDFs use the browser’s built-in viewer, and common text files (TXT, Markdown, CSV, logs, and similar formats) appear directly in the viewer. Controls vary by format.
- Use Preferences → Appearance to adjust personal settings such as language. Administrator settings are restricted to admin accounts.
Understand the main screen
🗂️ Project List
Choose a project, sort the list, or view archived projects. Shared projects appear in sections named after their source server.
🎞️ Viewer
The selected item appears in the center. Use the playback controls to review it.
🖼️ Thumbnails
Browse folders and identify media visually. Panel layout can be adjusted.
“Import media” opens the import workflow. Available folders depend on server permissions and configuration.
Plan work with a project timeline
Each project can have its own timeline of key dates. Open Timeline to add milestones with a title, date, optional note, owner, and status. Colors identify upcoming, in progress, delivery date, completed, and at-risk milestones. Week numbers appear softly in the background; when the timeline spans multiple weeks, blurred white vertical dividers mark the transitions between them.
Owners can be local users, people accessible through federation, or a name entered manually. Email is optional; without an email, the milestone can still be saved but reminders cannot be sent. Configure reminders such as 3 days and 1 day before a milestone; email delivery requires an address and SMTP configuration on the server.
Work with your team
- Ask an administrator to create an account if you do not have one.
- Groups help organize projects by team or production.
- Personal preferences are under ⚙️. System settings are for administrators.
- Administrators configure and check backups from the dedicated tab.
Project meetings
The project’s Team list shows everyone authorized to access it and indicates who is online. Click 👥 Meeting to open the shared group conversation, even when other people are not online at the same time. Federated team members can join too.
Each message is timestamped and added to Compte rendu de la Réunion.txt inside the project’s Compte rendu de la Réunion folder. Authorized participants can vote to approve or reject a shared media item. Its card gets a green outline when approved and a red outline as soon as a rejection is recorded; each person’s latest vote counts. Each shared media item also has an 📝 Annotation button that opens its own discussion drawer. Annotations show the author and timestamp and are shared with authorized federated participants.
Use ⬇ Text to download the conversation, annotations, and vote summary, or 📄 Illustrated PDF for a landscape edit notebook: a large thumbnail on the left, with status, location, and voter names in a side panel, followed by timestamped annotation pages for each media item. ✉ Send by email opens a form for recipients, subject, and message; the PDF is attached with an automatic “Sent via Dailies Delivery” signature. SMTP must be configured and enabled on the server.
Approve and certify a delivery
Prepare a delivery with Deliver and share it with its recipients. Each recipient can choose Agree without entering a comment. A comment remains optional; it is requested when reporting an issue or asking for a change.
When certification is pending, a shortcut appears beside Deliver and opens the delivery dashboard under Preferences → Deliveries. The dashboard summarizes delivery status and approvals. Once all media have been approved, an authorized user can certify the delivery and download its receipt.
Upload from the Android Companion
On the server, open Preferences → Assistance → Companion and generate a QR code or temporary pairing code. Scan it in the Android app to associate the device with your profile. The server address is remembered, and an administrator can revoke the pairing.
Choose an authorized project or create one, then select a source folder. Android must mount a camera or USB storage first; browse to it and search for DCIM if needed. Select photos, videos, or audio and start the upload. Per-item progress shows percentage and speed. Transfers can continue in the background, and the history separates in-progress and completed uploads. Original filenames are preserved and the server verifies received files.
The app can lock when sent to the background without stopping an active transfer. Read the full Companion guide →
Using multiple servers?
Federation is optional. It connects servers while projects, media, and accounts stay on their source server. Shared projects appear in a dedicated section named after the server that hosts them and are available in read-only mode.
Quick help
No projects are visible
Create a project or import a folder. If a folder is missing, ask an administrator to check access from the server.
A folder cannot be opened
Visible paths depend on the host machine and allowed locations. Ask an administrator to check the configuration.
A video does not play as expected
Try another thumbnail, then ask your administrator to check format support and the media path.
